The job of being a parent or carer is one of the most difficult there is - it can be both rewarding and challenging. Every family experiences difficulty from time to time and this can test the best of parents. At these times it may be hard to think about what help and information you might need, where you can access help and support and what you can do to help protect your child.
This website offers advice and information about the challenges you may face as a parent or carer. The different pages on the website try to provide you with information and advice on child safety.
The three sections of the website
The parents & carers website aims to inform parents and carers of the risks to children and young people and how to access help and advice.
The young people’s website tries to do the same by informing young people about the risks they may face and provide them with information, advice and knowledge to help them look out for and improve their own safety. To help with this, the young people’s website includes interactive games and resources.
The professional’s website also raises important safety issues with various professionals and services in the city (from statutory services like the council or health services, through to community and voluntary sector services like youth groups, parent groups, community groups etc). The website provides them with information, advice and a list of contacts and links for them to access more information and help from specialist services.
